Most of the taxes and acts were a result of Britains war debt from the french and indian war. -
Sugar Act
Taxes were put on sugar imports to America, like the tea act. -
Quartering Act
Forced colonists to give up their homes and food to British soldiers whenever they pleased -
Stamp Act
Required colonists to buy special stamps for their legal documents, licenses, newspapers, pamphlets, etc.... It was against the law if the colonists didn't use stamps. Little things like the stamp act kept on coming, along with the other couple new acts. The stamp act was just the first tax and It played a role in leading to the rebellion. -
Townshend Acts
These acts were direct taxes on the colonists. Taxes on goods like paper, glass, and most importantly- tea was taxed with an extra 3 pennies. These acts, along with other taxing acts outraged colonists. It led to another boycott led by Sam Adams. -
Boston Massacre
The Massacre was a British attack on innocent colonial citizens. Only 3 people died, but the cause of the whole thing was the fact that there was unemployment in the colonies because of the British. -
Boston Tea Party
Because of the Tea Act, Patriots dumped British tea in the Harbor in result to being taxed on tea. -
Intolerable Acts
These acts shut down the Boston Harbor, housed British soldiers in civilian houses whenever they pleased or suspected anything, and placed Boston under martial law....These acts played a big role in creating more hate and anger between colonists and Britain.These acts were a result of the Boston Tea Party.
