WW1
World War 1 started on the 28th July 1914 - November 11 1918. WW1 was fought in Germany agaist it's allies from Britain, France, Russia, Italy and the United States. Druring WW1 the total number of military and civilian casualties was over 37 million, with around 17 millions killed and 20 million wounded. -
Discovery of Pencillin
The discovery of Pencillin was discovered in London, England, by a Scottish scientist and Nobel laureate Alexander Fleming in 1928. Pencillin has been a huge help to wounded soldiers on the field in WW2. -
Stock Market Crash
On the 29th October 1929, there was a stock market crash in New York City, which is also known as 'Black Tuesday'. This market crash in the late 20s sunk the world into the Great Depression. After that jobs for citizens where very hard to find and far from their home towns. -
Pearl Harbor Attack
The morning of December 7th was no ordinary morning but a terrible one for the citizens of Hawaii. The Pearl Harbor Attack was a supprise attack from the japanese in milatry planes dropping bombs onto their harbor.This supprise attack wasn't such a great plan for the japanese scince it led the United States into WW2. -
Japanese occupation
During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong, the japanese first invaded through China and defeted the Gin Drinkers' Line which ran through the boarder of Hong Kong. No longer soon they were in Kowloon, the japanese went into each house harming families and seeling their food and water. After 18 days of invasion Hong Kong surrendered to japan. -
Hitler commites suicide
Adolf Hitler commit suicide on the 30th April 1945 in Berlin. Him and his wife Eva toook a chemical called Cyanide and both died by their sides. Their remains were coverd in petrol and set alight. -
Japan Atomic Bomb
In August 1945, two disastaring atomic bombs ever recorded were dropped on Japan in Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the 6th August and 9th August. From each of these bombs 90,000–146,000 people were killed is Hiroshima and 39,000–80,000 were killed in Nagasaki. -
Vietnam War
The Vietnam war started on the first of November, 1955 when President Trueman was scared that if the Communists won in Vietnam, Communism would spread through out South East Asia and become a greater threat to the U.S. The war lasted nearly 20 years, being one of the most longest wars in American history. -
Hong Kong Handover
The Hong Kong Handover was a ceremoney for the trasfer of Hong Kong from United Kingdom to the People's Rebublic of China. The ceremony was an international televised event from the 30 June 1997 - 1 July 1997. -
First Hong Kong Chief Executive
Tung Chee-hwa becomes Hong Kong's first Chief Executive, on the 1st July.
