Europeans land in America

A spanish exploration crew lead by Chritopher Columbus land on an island which he named San Salvador which is now today known as the Bahamas.

Columbus lands on an island which is now present day Hispanola. This is where the europeans came into contact with the native tribe known as the Taino and discover gold deposits within the native communities. THis in turn sparked their deepening intrerest with the natives.

Spanish conquest

After word of the "New World" spread throughout Europe, other explorers set out to explore the the Americas. One such explorer was Ponce De Leon, he was one of the first spanish Explorers to set out into the new world with the intent to claim vast amounts of territory for spain. Men of hi status were known as Conquistadors.
