Hernando De Soto
De Soto eplored the southeast region of North America (Florida) for Spain. He was searching for gold, good land with a route from Mexico to the Atlantic. At every stop he and his men made they attacked Indian villages murduring people and taking others as slaves. He and his men "discovered" the Mississippi River. After his death his men reached Mexico with neither a colony or gold. -

Explored the Southwest Americas and the Great Plains. He seeked God, Glory and Gold. On his expedition for Spain he 'discovered" the Grand Canyon. While on his journey he treated the Indians vey badly and brutally killed them. As word spread of his coming, many Indians commited suicide. while on his voyage he converted some Indians but he finished his voyage with no gold and glory. -

They found out that the Mississippi River does not have a passage to the Pacific Ocean; however, they encountered “monster” fish and “wild cattle.” Monster fish were catfish and wild cattle were buffalo. -
