    Columbus Reaches America

    Columbus failed to reach India, but that didn't matter because he found new lands for Europe to conquer.

    Spain Builds Mexico City

    After conquering the Aztecs, the Spanish built Mexico City on the ruins of the Aztec Empire.

  • English Colonization

    English sent about 100 colonists to Roanoke Island, Virginia. However, the colony failed not once, but twice.

  • English Successful Colonization

    Still wanting in on the stonks, England attempted to colonize again. They founded Jamestown up the Chesapeake Bay.

  • Dutch Colonization

    Henry Hudson sailed the Hudson river, landed, and claimed the area around the river. It was later named New Netherlands.

  • Cheapest Island

    Peter Minuit of New Netherlands bought an island for about 24$ worth of trade goods. The Native Americans thought they were trying to earn the right to gather food and fish, they didn't think they were giving up their land as they believed no one could own the land.

    The Swedish wanted in on the fur trade, so they colonized what is now Delaware and New Jersey.

  • French Colonization

    Everyone had a desire to make money off of the Americas, France was no exception. Missionaries founded Montreal.

    The English rocked up to New Amsterdam with their boats, and the governor surrendered control to the English.

  • English Fur Trade

    After taking New Amsterdam and renaming it New York, they wanted in on the French fur trade so they set up the Hudson's Bay Company.
