Coronado was a Spanish explorer that was looking for gold in what now is southwestern United States. He didn't find any gold but helped explore North America and claim land for Spain. -
Jacques Marquette's Expedition
Jacques Marquette was a French explorer that that left from Canada which was owned by France at the time. The goal of his expedition was to explore North America. He was the first explorer to come to Nebraska and he founded the Missouri River as a travel route. -

Étienne Vaniard was a French explorer that came to Nebraska he traveled the Missouri River, and made an outpost on it. He married a Indian women and made treaties with the Indians. -
Villasur's Expedition
Villasur was a Spanish commander who went to stop France from trading on Spains land. When he got to modern day Nebraska he got attacked by the Pawnee Indians who trade with France. The Failure of his expedition helped France gain some of North American and set Spain back some land and military experts. -

Lewis and Clark Expedition
Thomas Jefferson sent Lewis and Clark on an expedition to find a Northwest Passage, make good relation's with Indians, and explore the new land they got from the Lousiana purchase. As a result of the expedition they made good relations with the Indians, and mapped the area, but didn't find a northwest passage because the Rocky Mountains got in the way. -
Zebulon Pike's Expedition
The goal of his expedition was to find headwater of the Arkansas and Red rivers and to investigate Spanish settlements in new Mexico. As a result of this expedition a mountain was named after him and he explained to people what the midwest was like. He said that Nebraska was a waste land.
