    Built large fortresses and palaces. Expanded until 1100 spreading into Anatolia and Italy. Where the legendary Trojan War comes from, was in Anatolia. Adopted city-states which were first commercial centers before turning into bigger areas with a center city.

    Adopt the Phoenician alphabet and add vowels. Allows for a more sophisticated use of language like philosophy and science. Allows for important people like Socrates and Plato

    Rumored to be founded by Romulus and Remus in 753 but actually Etruscans that had migrated their. Had monarchial rule, powerful cities and strong trade, but in 509 a republic was set up. Expanded until they were a great power of the Mediterranean. Julius Caesar claims dictator and conquers even more before being murdered.

    Started with rebellions but then Persia turned to conquer Greece. Divided them into Athens and Sparta which greatly weakened Greece

    A time of great peace that last about two centuries. Economic growth allows for networks of roads that connect to the Silk Road, administrators and a common law code was set. Did not prevent some corrupt emperors along the way.

    500 leader Clovis converted to Christianity, reunified about half of the previous Western Roman Empire. 511 he died and power went mostly to aristocratic warriors. 751 Carolingians displaced the line of Clovis- Charlemagne the greatest of this new line. Reestablished central rule over much of central Europe and took title of Emperor of Rome in 800 CE.
