The HRE becomes religiously divided between Catholic and Protestant, instigating the largest German war ever recorded. This war ends in a stalemate, with external interference. -
Solidification of Great Powers in Europe
All minor states have been largely annexed by larger powers such as Spain or France, and the HRE is slowly falling towards decline with the release of states such as Prussia, Netherlands and Italy. -

Revolutionary France annexes all the states of the HRE, creating client states and ruling all of western Europe. Although this regime falls, the HRE remains fallen, and Europe enters into the modern age as a more unified continent of republics and constitutional monarchies.
