Eureka Rebellion

  • Unhappy miners

    The miners were unhappy with the unfair laws that miners could not own land and the cost of mining licences.
  • 150 diggers start the Eureka Stockade

    300 troopers and police attacked the stockade and 6 were killed, there were also 22 fatalities within the diggers. There was 113 taken into police custardy and 13 were taken for trials.

    The miners right was introduced in 1855 and enabled the miners to own land and mine where they wished.
