    Knowledge management was created.
    Tics were used not only for sharing ideas, but also for generating new interpretations.
    Note (The importance of media in this period of time is that they became a sophisticated tool to improve learning through computer-assisted instruction)

    Birth of educational technology
    1957- 1960
    Media/materials: teaching machine.
    Students operated teaching machines themselves and followed instructions on a screen similar to a TV.
    Teaching perspective: based on behavioural psychology of Skinner. TM gave positive reinforcement to the students.
    Teaching-learning process: minimized interaction among students and teachers. Students worked at their own pace (Individual instruction).

    Computers were first used in education.
    Media/materials: computers.
    Teaching perspective: Individualized instruction (a method known as computer-assisted instruction CAI) based on behavioural psychology.
    Teaching-learning process: Students worked through the lessons individually. Therefore, the teacher had a passive role in the process.

    The use of audiovisual equipment in schools
    The use of audiovisual equipment was well embedded in many schools including primary schools.
    Media/materials: film projector, epidiascopes and tape recorders.
    Teaching perspective: focused on instructional media and based on instrumental perspective.
    Teaching-learning process: In the classroom, the teacher used the media to complement his lessons ( pedagogical resources).In this way, students received the information in a realistic way ( didactical resources).

    National Education Television became public broadcasting service
    Media/materials: Television Teaching perspective: based on programmed instruction principles and individualized teaching. Teaching - learning process: television substituted a larger portion of teacher-led classroom time with educational television programming. In other cases, instructional television served a supplemental role and was used minimally. Therefore, both students and teachers had a passive role in this process.
