Violent conflict lead by Nathaniel Bacon on the Indians, and Virginia's government. -
Sir William Berkely
Sir Wiliam Berkely was the govenor of Virginia when Bacon's Rebellion happened. The people were going to kill him, so he fled. -
King Phillips War
A conflict in New England between Indian groups and English settlers, that was started by the English becasue they wanted more land. -
William Penn
WIlliam Penn is the founder of Pennsylvania and was a Quaker. He made Pennsylvania a relgiously tolerate colony and many people flocked to the colony because of it. -
Huguenots
Huguenots were French Protestarnts who were prosecuted because France was predominately Catholic. Huguenots would escape to America directly or indirectly to have religous freedom. -
Cotton Mather
He was a minister during The Salem Witch Trials. He accused women of using witchcraft on children who also had friends in the court. He later felt guilty and pulled back from the trial. -
Slave Codes
Slave Codes were laws to stop slaves from rebeling. Each colony had thier own set of laws but there was some standards such as; slaves can not learn to read or write, own land, and had an unfair disadvantage in court. -

The Great Awakening was a revival of religion in the American colonies. -
James Oglethorpe
He was a leader of Georgia and he established a buffer against Spanish invasion from Florida. He provided a safe haven for poor British farmers. -
John Peter Zenger
Zenger was a German Newpaper Printer in New York City. He was accused of writing things against the governement. There was a huge trial about his "crime" but he was eventually found not guilty. His trial helped to create the freedom of the press ammendment. -
Stono Rebellion
The Stono Rebellion was when twenty African Slaves tried to escape from captivity and then killed people on thier way to freedom. Eventually, they were recaptured, killed, or punished, along with 100 or so who also joined them on the way. -
Navigation Act
The act barred Dutch vessels from English colony possesions, which lead to a naval war with Holland. -
Jonathen Edwards
Jonathen Edwards was a Puritan preacher during the Great Awakening. He was popular until he started putting stricter reigns on the communtiy about not being good Puritans then he was dismissed.
