Initiative vs. Guilt
a. March 5th, 1997
b. Teddy, (age 3) is scolded by his mom for stealing a toy from his little brother Max, and Teddy is called a "bad boy". His mom emphasizes that a "good boy" would share the toy with his little brother.
c. This is Erikson's stage 3 of Psychosocial development: Initiative vs. Guilt. This stage occurs during age 3 to age 5.
d. In this stage during the preschool and early development years, children are learning to use their own control through social interaction and play. -
Identity vs. Role Confusion
A. May 20th, 2010
B. Teddy just got his license, and is trying to make the varsity soccer team this year. He's noticed many of the guys his age getting stronger and starting to look older. Teddy thinks working out to get stronger and growing out his facial hair will make him look like the other guys.
C. This is the stage of Identity vs. Role Confusion.
D. This is the stage where 12 to 20 year olds try to figure out who they are as people. They begin to change who they are to blend into society -
Generativity vs. Stagnation
a. August 10th, 2037
b. Teddy is now 43 years old. He is married to Laura and has a 12 year old daughter named Allison. As Allison gets older and becomes a teenager she experiences many of the hardships that Teddy did.
c. This is Erikson's stage of Generativity vs Stagnation.
d. In this stage Teddy is trying to figure out how to make a meaningful contribution to this world. For example, helping and raising his daughter to be confident with herself.
