Illness in Don's early years (infancy 0-1 year) Trust vs. Mistrust
When Don Simpson was only 3 months old he fell very ill. Because of this, his mother and father had to give very intensive care to Don in order to heal him.
In this Erikson stage (trust vs mistrust) Don is very vulnerable to the world and needs lots of care. Don is developing trust with his caregivers and those around him. Thankfully because of the loving attention from his parents Don can develop through this stage healthily, and have the trust to feel secure even in times of distress. -
Don builds a fort (Early Childhood 3-6 years) Initiative vs. Guilt
When Don was 6 years old, he decided to build a fort in the woods with his friends. They gathered many sticks, moss, leaves and mud to construct it.
During this Erikson stage, Don is learning more about the world around him and is excited to create and add to it. If Don's parents give positive reinforcement to his actions Don will gain confidence in his ability to be creative and take initiative. If they scold Don, his confidence will be replaced with a sense of guilt and inadequacy. -
Don Sparks Rebellion (Middle Adulthood 40-65 years) Generativity vs. Stagnation
Don Simpson is 44 and sees how his people are being treated unjustly and rallies a rebel alliance together to fight for their rights. During this Erikson Stage Don will decide how much he contributes to those in front and around him. Don feels a sense of duty and responsibility to leave a mark and benefit the world around him. His actions to lead this rebellion reflect his generativity. He wishes to use his strength to better the world around him and leave a lasting mark.
