This is representative of Eriksons 3rd stage, Initiative vs Guilt, and the crisis is between developing initiative and leadership skills, or facing rejection in these scenarios and feeling guilt or shame. If decision-making is encouraged, the child will develop necessary leadership qualities. Otherwise, they may struggle with decision making skills later in life.

When Alex was 25, they decided to marry their girlfriend of 4 years, Sydney. This is representative of Eriksons 5th stage, Intimacy vs isolation. The crisis of this stage is between establishing an intimate and committed relationship with another person, or being alone and unable to form an intimate relationship. Alex chose Intimacy over Isolation, they share their identity and form a deeper bond with Sydney. If they chose isolation, they might experience loneliness and regret later.
  • Alex, Generativity vs Stagnation

    Alex, Generativity vs Stagnation
When Alex was 45, they became a softball coach at a local high school so they could involve themself with their community. This represents Eriksons 7th stage, Generativity vs Stagnation. In this stage, people often seek ways to aid young people to "live on". The other option is stagnation, or a focus on ones own needs. Alex chose generativity by choosing to be a role model for a younger generation, and made themself more secure and comfortable with their mortality, alleviating potential regrets.
