B) Bob (age 1), has been reliably cared for by his mother. He looks to her for guidance of the unknown world around him, developing a sense of trust.
C) Erikson's first stage, trust vs. mistrust
D) The crisis is between getting reliable care as an infant, developing a sense of trust that will carry with them to other relationships, allowing them to feel more secure in the world around them, and getting inconsistent/unreliable care--- where the infant will develop a sense of mistrust and anxiety -
Bob develops Initiative
B) While playing on the playground at school, Bob (age 4) makes up a game with his friends and leads his friends in playing the game. Bob's parents encourage this behaviour.
C) Erikson's third stage, Initiative vs. guilt
D) The crisis is between developing a sense of initiative, feeling secure in their ability to lead others and make decisions, and feeling guilt- which makes the child slow to interact with others and may inhibit their creativity -
Bob develops Identity
B) While volunteering at a hospital, Bob (age 17) realizes he loves helping people and wants to become a doctor
C) Erikson's fifth stage, Identity vs. Role confusion
D) The crisis is between establishing a sense of identity, understanding who they are and what role they will occupy as an adult, and failing to establish an identity- leading to role confusion and the individual not being sure about themselves or their place in society.
