    Founded Newington Green Girls' School
    At the age of 24, Mary Wollstonecraft established Newington Green, which is a girls’ boarding school located in London. It is known as the birthplace of feminism that serves as a symbol of advocacy for women. Wollstonecraft opened this school alongside her sister Eliza and friend Fanny Blood with the aim to give girls the same education as their male peers. Mary advocated strongly for education and argues that well-educated women would ultimately contribute in a positive way to the nation.

    Publication of 'Thoughts on the Education of Daughters'
    Wollstonecraft used her writing to advocate for women’s rights after her school was shut down due to financial issues. She paved the way for modern thinking and challenged the current times. This book was first published in 1787 and discussed the need for educated girls and how education can provide valuable wives and mothers. She strongly argues how women can be effective in society just as much as men and display the sound morals and character as a male does.

    Mary Wollstonecraft was a talented writer and published many famous pieces of writing. One of her most famous pieces was ‘A Vindication of the Rights of Women’, which was published in 1972. In this specific piece of work, she had multiple arguments that were way ahead of the time. She was arguing for women’s dignity to be given and allowing them to live their own lives.

    Mary Wollstonecraft was an exceptional activist for equal rights for women. Following Mary's tremendous efforts and work, she has left us with a piece of history that will not be forgotten. Even to this day Wollstonecraft is being mentioned and recognized around the world, specifically during Women's History Month in March of 2017. The month aims to celebrate the accomplishments of these women and also encourage other women to fight for what they want and strive for greatness.
