Enjoying books
When I first went to a school in America. I did not know the language yet alone how to read. I first went to Washington elementary and picked up some English and when I was transfered to 1st grade in the middle of the year to Forest I was put into a ESL and they would pull me out of class everyday to get extra help in improve my English a lot of that was reading on Starfalls, Reading A-Z, and other apps they gave me and it was what first made me love reading -
2nd Grade
The teacher gave a list of words that we had to study every week and then had a test on Fridays. I would always give the list to my mom and she would say the words and i would spell them back to her. -
Reading
The teacher would read a book to the class at least once a week. After That I would start having mom mom buy me books like The Magic Tree house, If You Give A Mouse a cookie, Dr.Seus. That's when my love of reading began. -
Love for textbook short stories
In 5th The teacher would have us read short stories from the text book. It was fun short stories of Icarus and the tortoise and the Hare. Because the stories were short and fun the whole class enjoyed reading and learning from them including me. -
Junie B. Jones
I Started to really love reading after third grade. The elementary school I went to had a book fair every year and my parents would always give me money to get a book. And at this time I really got into Junie B. Jones books and my teacher had a collection of them and she would let me borrow from her library. -
Dork Diaries Era
One of the first book series I had a very high interest in. On of the first books I have ever bought with my own money and stayed up at night reading because it was just that good and I could not put the book down -
Summer reading
The summer of 2018 was the first and last summer that i went to the library regularly throughout the whole summer and picked a different book every time. Whether it was a chapter book or a comic book, I would borrow the book read all of it and then go back to the library to get another one. Because that summer i had nothing to do nowhere to go so it was my way of doing something that summer. -
New found love of writing
That year with that specific teacher after Covid was the first year I had ever genuinely liked writing an essay in class. Because it was the year after covid the teachers were not to hard on the students and in Mrs.Z's class when she gave us an essay to write it was less about writing a good essay on your own and handing it in for a grade, it was more about teaching us how to write a good essay. Students would show her a rough draft and she would fix any mistakes and she made the class fun.
