Carolina

Roanoke Colony
First English settlement in the New World founded by Sir Walter Raleigh. John White, the governor, went to England for more supplies and when he came back the settlers vanished.

Salutary Neglect
Policy of the British government under which trade laws where barely enforced and supervision of internal colonial affairs was loose. This was only if the colony was loyal to the British government. This involuntarily helped America gain independence.

Jamestown

Mayflower Compact & Plymouth
The Mayflower managed to get to America in one piece, though it was damaged on the way there and people were thrown overboard. They were at sea for more than two months. The Compact was a promise that all settlers would stick together no matter what.

Massachusetts Bay Colony

Maryland

Rhode Island

Granted tolerance to Catholics to ensure religious liberty. It also granted freedom to all others who believed in the Trinity.

Bacon's rebellion
Sir William Berkeley became unfavorable with a small group of farmers. In 1673, Nathaniel Bacon attacked Native Americans and was arrested. After his release, he sought out to attack Jamestown, but failed and died of Dysentery.

French-Indian War
Also known as the Seven Years' War, it was because French wanted to settle into the Ohio River valley and that conflicted with Britain's Settlements. The British were losing at first because of France's alliance with the Natives. In 1757, William Pitt changed British's losing streak by paying Prussia to fight in Europe while Pitt fought in the colonies.

Proclamation of 1763
Issued by King George III, which forbade all settling past a line along the Appalachian Mountains. This was in an effort to tighten control over the colonies.
