King Charles II was forced to sign the Petition of Right. His father King Charles I ignored it. It limited King's power. -

Parliament vs. Royalists. Defeated the King and elected a new one. -
Oliver Cromwell
Ruled with absolute force. Used his army and is a Lord protector. He sent his army to Ireland to crush them. -
Habeas Corpus
Habeas Corpus was a document signed stating that you had to send people to jail with a crime. If a person did nothing or a small crime, they would not go to jail. -
Charles II
Charles II was asked to come back and rule Britain. He was the first monarch to rule after the English Restoration. -
Grandson James II
James II was the second surviving son of Charles I and younger brother of Charles II. James took first measures to restore Catholicsim in England. -
Constitutional Monarchy
This limited the King's power and gave the people more power. It caused problems with Kings. -
William & Mary Take Throne
They were invited by Mary's father James II to take the crown on England and were assured of English support. Mary died first in 1694 and had no surviving children. William ruled alone until 1702.
