Sailors were in calm water of El Hierro, and gave islanders a picture of Virgin Mary that they came to the New World. Because of that they were able to sail away to the New World. -

El Hierro is no longer at the furthest edge of the Earth’s landmass. Since 1996, El Hierro works to become the first eagerly indecent island in the world that is powered by renewable energy sources. -
Gorona del Viento El Hierro
The 1996 consortium included islanders, faculty, students, and companies of the Spanish government. All the participants focused on moving the energy source from powered generators to no fossil fuels and emit no CO2. -
Oil
The Spanish Minister gave an oil company permission to drill near the Canary Islands. A possible oil spill would cause a disaster to the environment. It would be bad for drinking water, tourism, and people who would like to fish. Because of the drill noise, it would make life for whales and fish impossible because of communication and navigation.
