Bombing of Egyptian Embassy
In 1995, the EIJ bombed the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. Two suicide truck bombers drove through the front gates of the Egyptian embassy in Islamabad, Pakistan. 17 were killed and 60 were injured. -
EIJ switch goals
Around 1998, the Egyptian Islamic Jihad changed goals. They from wanting to overthrow the Egyptian governmet to install an Islamic state to wanting to oppose and destroy all western infuence. They also started to align themselves with Al-qaeda and would later call themselves Qaeda al-Jihad. -
Failed bombing of United States Embassy
The EIJ attempted to bomb the United States Embassy in Albania, Turkey, but this plan was quicly foiled. THis failed bombing was suspected to be revenge against America for their believed involvement in the arrest and torture of four members of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad who were arrested 2 months earlier. -
Bombing of the United States Embassy
Simultaneous car bombs were detonated at the U.S. Embassies in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. This marked the first notable combined attack between Osama bin Laden and the EIJ. 223 were killed and 4,000+ injured. -
EIJ and Al-Qaeda fully merge
In June 2001, two terrorist groups merge together, Al-Qaeda and the EIJ. The Egyptian Islamic Jihad now call themselves Qaeda Al-Jihad. -
Attack on World Trade Center and the Pentagon
The EIJ and Al-Qaeda both worked together as one group to pull off a series of attacks on the United States. Thousands were killed and injured.
