Before the British came they were taught homemaking skills and how to manage a household by their mother but could equally work the same as men. After the British came same thing but some women of higher rankings would own things or their own businesses. -

Before the British came the men were hunting, farming, building, mining, etc. After they came it was the same. -
Egyptian Colonization
The British occupied Egypt in 1882, but they did not annex it: a nominally independent Egyptian government continued to operate. But the country had already been colonized by the European powers whose influence had grown considerably since the mid-nineteenth century.
