In 1954 Egypt tried to end Britain's military presence near the Suez canal. This attempt possibly ignited the British to join Israel in the attempt to take over the land for the Suez Canal. -

Israel Invasion
Israel soldeirs invaded Egypt near the Suez Canal after Egypt president Gamel Abdel Nasser nationalized the Suez canal in July of that year. -
Israel, French, British invasion
Two days later British and French soldiers joined the Israel soldiers. Their attempt succeed, they gained some of the area around the Suez canal. -
Withdrawl
Israel withdraws their troops form Egypt because the United States did not appreciate the fact that specifically Britain did not keep the United States informed of their military campaign.
