Started Preschool
I discovered Curious George Books. -
Learned to read in First Grade
Learned to read and wanted to read everything that I could. -
Elementary School Grades 2 to 5
I enjoyed reading during school and outside of school. I liked to read Archie comic books and storybooks. I played teacher with my dolls and read to my dolls, with my sisters,to my parents and my dog. -
First "Long Book"
In 4th grade I can remember reading what I thought was a really long book because it had more than 100 pages. I think it was called Jelly Belly. -
The Outsiders
Read the Outsiders in Middle School. -
Middle School
I really enjoyed reading and this is when I discovered I wanted to become a teacher. This had a lot to do with my reading teachers Mrs. Moore and Ms. Dickinson. -
High School 9th-12th grades
In high school I read a Time to Kill for a report and formed an interest in John Grisham novels. -
Niece was Born
I read to her all the time and she loved Elmo and Dr. Seuss. -
Nephew Born
Read to nephew and his favorite book was Love You Forever. -
College Years
Reading for pleasure dropped off significantly and most reading was from textbooks. -
Reading Courses at TWU
I begin taking my reading courses in college and developed an interest in pursuing options in the reading field. -
Kindle Generation
I got a Kindle and started reading for personal pleasure again. Also discovered I could download my college textbooks for a lot less money! -
Present Day
I spend the majority of my reading time on textbooks but I do read for pleasure also. I enjoy mystery novels mostly. I have also decided to finish reading the entire Bible this year which I started last year and did not complete. I also enjoy reading children's book and finding new books that I enjoy and I have started building my classroom library for the future.
