“Lee Barracks” To “Dixie”
They all arrived in “Dixie” . They were even in sight of the cappital. They arrived in dixie that morning just after it turned dark. They traveld from lee Barracks to dixie.
It states that the soldiers were tierd but even also exited about the move from lee barracks to dixie. -
Setting camp.
Monday. March 2
It states that the day was warm and that the day was alos pleasant. They were orderd to take all of there luggage and orderd a crew of 20 men to go out and set up camp and to also to prepair it for the remainder of there own soldiers -
Sitting
On that moarning it states that it was raining and that the soldiers was sitting by there little stove waiting on he storm to pass so they can set out on march.
He says that they are low on food and that he would bring his letters up to date. -
Enemy Fire
Friday the 19th
They had been under marching
orders during the intervening
time. It was about 10. AM when
they stopped marching
two hours. the war of cannons
had been coming to there camp
They really dident have any emotions about what as going on that day -
After war
After the war had been over they state that most of there crew had been taken out by the enemy lines. They state that cannons and guns had torn soldiers apart .
And that it was a hard site to see -
Marching
May 7th 1864
They had been on the move and marching since wendsday morning at 7;00 -
Prisoners
As he awoken from his sleep he steped out side. He stated that it had been raining and that there had been about 800 prisoners brought to his camp that moarning. they said they inspected the prissoners and had sent the sick to the local doctor. -
war fall back
May 20th
A battle went down about 6 or 8 miles from where they are now
They were helping theme but then they had to fall back due to over armed enemies.
They say that the war started due to theme attaking a wagon. -
Capturd soldiers
They say that some 200 soldiers were sent into there camp from the front he states that he does not know who they were captured by or even diismounted from lockup. He said that they dident know what they wer going to do with them because they had to get ready and seat out to march. -
Returning
June 2nd 1864
As they return towere they fought there first battle to cheack on loved ones in the nearest hosspital. And to even visit friends and to see if they were ever going to be able to fight in the war again
