    Edward Boeing was born in Detroit, Michigan on October 1, 1881. He was the oldest and the only boy in his family, out of three. Boeing lost his father to influenza when he was two or three years old. Later on, his mother re-married and because Boeing and his step-father didn't get along well, Boeing was sent to boarding school in Switzerland.

    During the Pacific Aero Products Company beginning stages, Boeing and his colleague built experimental seaplanes After changing it's name to Boeing Airplane Company, they made a similar sea plane purposely used to deliver mail through Seatle, and Vancouver, Canada.

    During this time, they submitted a bid with the United States Military to manufacture the 200 Thomas-Morse MB-3 Fighter planes for war use. They were also able to build the M-40, using those planes to do mail deliveries, as well as transporting passengers between San Francisco and Chicago.

    During this time, Boeing Airplane Co. entered into a merger with National City Bank, United Aircraft and Transportation Company, and other supplier companies which created an expansion in passenger services within the commercial industry. This is known as one of the most profitable aviation operations Boeing encountered. During this time, Mr. Boeing became less involved in the designing process of the aircraft, as he was focused on the business side of the merger.
