1884 - Sanction of the Bill on Education (a required, secular, free elementary education). It prohibit teaching religious matters in public schools and encourage moral, hygiene, and nationalism.

Quintana's Regime - 1905
Lainez Law: The government installs public schools in the provinces through the National Council of Education. There was a preference for Provincial Schools rather than National Schools. With the 1420 Bill, the Education system of Argentina is finally organized. The richest provinces did not have that many schools as the poorest ones, which caused a breach between the two educational systems. -
1916
Implementation of the Saenz Peña Bill. Major political participation. It demanded a bigger expansion of the elementary schools. -
1946 - 1951
Due to economic and industrial impulse: schools are open to groups that was excluded before, technical education is encouraged and there's free college and the Universidad Obrera -
1970 - Lainez Law is repealed

Argentine’s education suffers its major setback in history.

Coup - 1976
National Reorganization Process. Schools are transferred to the Provinces in where the are located. Content and freedom are lost in the institutions. Students and educators disappear. Schools are intervened in order to impose conservative teaching. -

Students Councils are reinstalled. Entrance exams are supressed. Democracy is used as a base for education. College is standardized. -

Education is no longer a right. -
A new law for Education is passed
Less funds are given to schools. Public schools dissappear. Primary school is mandatory. -
Education now is mandatory. Schools are seen as spaces for social interaction.

Education is now divided into two groups
EGB (Educación General Básica) 1, 2 & 3 which consists on the first years of education. The last years are named Polimodal. This model ends in 2012. Private education is now preferred over public education.
