1944 Education Act
The Education Act made education free for all pupils in England and in Wales in 1944.
- The school age for moving onto higher education was set to 11 years old. This policy resulted me in leaving primary school at the age of 11 and starting secondary school. -
Mandatory Maintenance Grants - 1962
In 1962 the Mandatory Maintenance Grants were introduced to cover tutition fees and living costs for students who wished to carry on with higher education in universities. -
1971 - Milk Policy
In 1971 Margret Thatcher became education secutary and scraped free milk that was provided in schools. She became to be known as the "Milk snatcher". This change resulted in me paying for milk during primary school. -
Leaving School Age - 1972
In 1972 the government anounced that the the school leaving age would be raised from being 15 and raised to the age of 16 in england and in wales. This policy affected me and resulted in me to stay in education until the age of 16. -
1981 - Education Act
This policy gave parents new rights in relation to special needs
- LEA'S were required to identify the needs of children with learning difficulties and specify how needs would be met. -
1988 - Education Reform Act
In 1988 GCSE's were introduced and replaced O-levels and CSE's. This also resulted in most subjects to be atleast 25% internally assessed through coursework. The change of GCSE's being introduced affected me as i took GCSE'S and some subjects were coure work based. -
1991-1998 Standard Assessment Tests
In 1991 the Standard Assessment Tests (SATs) were introduced in phases.
By 1998 there were tests for 7,11 and 14 year olds. This policy resulted in me taking the sats tests at the age of 7,11 and 14 which tested my ability in English, Maths and Science. -
1992 - OFSTED
In 1992 OFSTED was established to monitor and report the quality of schools - Allowed schools to be assessed and managed. -
I was born
I was born on the 24th January 1993 -
1994 - A* Grade
In 1994 an A* grade was added to GCSE'S to differientiate between the top and lower A grades. Due t the A* grade being intorudced i was able to achieve an A* grade n GCSE'S -

At the age of 5, i started school at Stow Heath Infant School -
2000 - Learning and Skills Act
In 2000 the new curriculum of the AS/A Level were introduced. This resulted in me taking the new AS/ALevel curriculum -
2000 - Start of Primary School
In the year 2000 i started Stow Heath juniors School at the age of 7 starting in year 3 -

In 2004 i started secondary school at the age of 11 at St Thomas More Catholic School -
Higher Education Act - 2004
In 2004 the labour government increased the level of tutition fees and allowed universities to charge upto £3000 a year. This change affected me and was required to pay the increased level of tuition fee of £3000. -
Every Child Matters - 2004
In 2004 the policy of ECM was introudced into schools who had to promote co-operation between agencies to improve childrens well-being -
Education Maintence Allowence - 2004
Education Maintence Allowence (EMA) was intoruced for students from low income famillies to encourage them with their higher education studies.- Due to this policy i was able to claim for EMA.

Healthy Food Policy - Jamie Oliver 2005
In 2005 Jamie Oliver introduced the plans of a school food plan to tackle poor food standards in schools.- This policy affected me as the policy was implemented when i was in year 8 of secondary school and healthy food dishes were introduced into the school

SATS - 2008
In 2008 the government decided to scrap SATs for 14 year olds in year 9. However this policy did not affect me. -
Education and Skills Act - 2008
This policy was introduced in 2008 and required pupils to stay in education until the age of 18. This policy did not affect me as it was intorudced in 2008. -
Finished Secondary School - 2009
In 2009 i finished Secondary school and decided to carry on with higher education to study Alevel at sixthorm. Started sixthform in 2009 -
Start of sixth form at St thomas more Catholic School
In 2009 once i completed my GCSE's i decided to carry on with higher education and stayed on at St Thomas More Catholic School to complete a extra two years of educations to complete Alevels -
Introduction of the A* for Alevel - 2010
In 2010 the government introduced the A* in order to stretch the brightest students and help universitites differentiate between the best candidates. This policy allowed me to be able to achieve a A* in alevel as it was introduced in the year of my AS levels. -
Start of University
In 2011 i finished my Alevels and started University at Sheffield Hallam University in september -
Change of university tutition fees - 2012
The conservative government won the vot and in 2012 changes the university tutition fee and charged students upto £9000 a year. This policy did not affect me as i went to university in 2011 and was charged the old fee throughout my undergraduate degree. this policy has affected me as i am completing a PGCE in 2015 and being charged the £9000 in tutition fee loan. -
Completed Undergraduate degree - 2014
In 2014 i completed my undergraduate degree at Sheffield Hallam University. -
Gap year of supply work - 2014
After finishing my undergraduate degree i decided to take a gap year and take up some experience in secondary schools working as a supply teacher. -
Start of PGCE - 2015 - Present
Started a PGCE in Computer Science at the University of Wolverhampton
