    The first Waldorf/Steiner school was opened in Stuttgart, Germany. This project was executed by Emil Molt & Rudolf Steiner to serve the children of employees of Molt's factory and provide Steiner education (anthroposophy).

    Khumjung Secondary School was built in 1961. The project was executed by Sir Edmund Hillary to give Sherpa’s the opportunity to go to school in their own region and give back to them for helping him.

    The purpose of this project was to create a more viable tertiary institution offering high quality vocational training opportunities for the whole Canterbury region. The Minister of Education instigated the need for this and the transformation project was managed by John West.
