This was a landmark case because it ruled that "separate but equal" was not constitutional. This case was filed when Linda Brown was denied entrance to an all-white elementary school in Topeka. Linda Brown wanted entrance because the white schools were better.

Pennsylvania Association for Retarded Children (PARC) vs. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
This case occurred because prior to 1971 a lot fo kids were denied access to a public education. Schools had been rejecting kids who had not "attained a mental age of 5 years." The decision was all children ages 6-21 should get a public education no matter what.
