Parents reading to me.
My mother (mostly) would read to me as a child. We had many books in our house because my mother was an avid reader. I also have many siblings, so we had children's books as well. -
Read books in school
I would read in class when we had free time. I was not a big fan of reading but I would do it to pass the time. -
Fell in love with a set of books in a series
Was not much of a personal reader as a child, but I found the "Little House" books and I fell in love. I read all of them multiple times. -
Lost interest
The only books I liked reading on my own was the "Little House" books. Once I was finished with those, I gave up reading on a personal level. I would only read when it was required of me by a class. -
Discovered a new series
I discovered Twilight by random, but this is what sparked my interest back into reading. It was a series and I always had more to look forward to. -
Found a favorite author
I had a job that had a lot of personal downtime. I began reading to pass the time. I read "The Wedding" by Nicholas Sparks and I was hooked. He quickly became my favorite author and I eventually read every single book by him. -
Began to branch out
After Twilight, I decided to read Harry Potter because I loved all of the movies and I was slowly becoming and avid reader. I figured that Harry Potter could be my next big hook. -
I was hooked on reading
I considered myself an avid reader at this point. I was beginning to get a collection and I would continually read during any downtime that I had. -
I found an affinity for authors as well.
When I found an author that I liked a lot, I would read everything by them. Dan Brown quickly became an obsession of mine. I watched The Da Vinci Code and shortly after, I read everything by him as well. -
Began a bigger, tougher series.
After beginning to watch Game of Thrones around 2015. I was hooked on the show, and wanted to read the series, but I was nervous. I was told that it was hard to read and sometimes got very boring and the books were very long. After much debate, I bought the series. I've read two of the books so far and I am even more in love with GOT. My favorite character change after reading the second book, because the book could portray the character far better than the show could.
