Budget- Deficit Falls to $680 Billion
At $680 billion, the 2013 deficit is 51% less than what it was in 2009 when it reached a record high of 41.4 trillion. It is also considerably smaller than it has been the past 5 years with a 4.1% gross domestic product.

Trade- Balance of Trade
The trade gap increased from $2.9 billion to $45.2 billion in November of 2016, from downwardly revised $42.4 billion in October and above the market expectation of $42.5 billion shortfall. It was the biggest trade deficit since February. Exports fell 0.2 percent while imports rose 1.1 percent, which reached the highest level in 15 months due to due to crude oil purchases.
