Massive tsunami waves grew up to 30 m (100 ft) high once heading inland.The earthquake was the third-largest ever recorded and had the longest duration of faulting ever observed; between eight and ten minutes.It caused the planet to vibrate as much as 10 mm. -
CHINA EARTHQUAKE
An Earthquake in China that had about 87,587 deaths and its magnitude was about 7.9. Over 69,000 people lost their lives in the quake, including 68,636 in Sichuan province. 374,176 were reported injured, with 18,222 listed as missing as of July 2008.The earthquake left about 4.8 million people homeless,though the number could be as high as 11 million. -
HAITI EARTHQUAKE
In Haiti there was a magnitude 7.0 earthquake. It had 316,000 deaths, making it the deadliest earthquake ever in the history. The earthquake caused major damage in Port-au-Prince, Jacmel and other cities in the region. Notable landmark buildings were significantly damaged or destroyed, including the Presidential Palace, the National Assembly building, the Port-au-Prince Cathedral, and the main jail. -
JAPAN EARTHQUAKE
An earthquake and tsunami, its magnitude was about 9.0, hit Japan a couple years ago. It was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Japan, and the fourth most powerful earthquake in the world since modern record-keeping began in 1900.The earthquake triggered powerful tsunami waves that may have reached heights of up to 40.5 meters (133 ft) in Miyako in Tōhoku's Iwate Prefecture.The earthquake moved Honshu (the main island of Japan) 2.4 m (8 ft) east. NEPAL EARTHQUAKE
Its magnitude was about 7.8. It had 8,964 deaths.The earthquake triggered an avalanche on Mount Everest, killing 21, making 25 April 2015 the deadliest day on the mountain in history.The earthquake triggered another huge avalanche in the Langtang valley, where 250 people were reported missing.Hundreds of thousands of Nepalese were made homeless with entire villages flattened,across many districts of the country.
