    Eratosthenes

He was the first person to calculate the tilt of Earths axis which has major significance because the tilt of our axis is the reason we experience seasons.

    Ptolomey

founder of the geocentric theory. this theory as we now know is not true, it still was very impactful for its day because this is when the study of the heavens started to arise.
  • 1507

    Nicolaus Copernicus

He proposed the modern heliocentric theory. This theory was important because it began a new look on astronomy and began modern astronomy.
  • Tycho Brache

Brahe showed irregularities in the Moon's orbit and discovered a new star in the Cassiopeia formation. This happened in the year 1590. this discovery is considered important because it helped pave the way for the discovery that we move around the sun in an elipse.
  • Johannes Kepler

He discovered that the planets move in elliptical orbits around the sun. This was a major discovery because we now had a different and new understanding of how our solar system actually looked.
  • Sir Issac Newton

He formulated the gravitational theory which then lead us to further understand how we rotate around our sun and also keep our feet on the Earth instead of floating away.
  • Albert Einstein

He discovered general relativity, which is the observed gravitational attraction between masses results from the warping of space and time by those masses. This discovery is important because without it we could have never discovered gravitational waves.
