Planetary Accretion
The planetary accretion happened about 4.6 billion years ago and it continued about 100 million years more. This phenomenon is basically an accumulation of the particles by gravity that formed planets, such as Earth and Mars in our solar system. The materials in the space collided with each other and finally formed our solar system. -

Core Formation
People believe that the core formation occurred when our solar system was very young. The core of the Earth was formed by gravity, which pulled denser materials to the center of the planet. Those materials gathered together and formed the core of the Earth. -

Formation of the Moon
The moon was formed by the asteroid that struck the Earth, which created huge energy that melted part of the Earth. The materials from the massive collision went out of the orbit and finally formed a moon. -

End of Heavy Bombardment
About 4.5 to 3.8 billion years ago, small asteroids and some of the failed planets collided with the other planets in the inner solar system, such as Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. -

Planetary Cooling
The Earth became stable at about 3.7 to 4.3 billion years ago. By 4 million years ago, Earth had cooled enough to form layers, clouds, and oceans. This step is where the planet started to turn out as today's Earth.
