    The settlement had many loopholes and not everyone was satisfied. Despite the downsides, the Peace of Augsburg saved the empire from 50 years of serious conflicts as well as strengthed the power of the ruler.

    King Charles IX orders St Bartholomew's Day massacre of Huguenots
    Began two days after the attempted assassination of the military and politcal leader of the Huguenots. King Charles ordered that a group of Huguenot leaders were to be killed. This spread throughout Paris.
