1788- King George 111 sends the first group of convicts to New Holland to found the first colony at Sydney Cove. They assumed that the Aboriginals did not own the land and would step aside.
Effect:
Aboriginal people are no longer, the only inhabitants. The French were stopped from colonising Australia. We inherited English religion laws and values. -

The British government is losing a lot of money on a new colonial jail. In 1798 Mr Joseph Banks declares the whole thing to have been a largely useless enterprise. Effect:
British lost a lot of money which means Australians died because they did not have enough food to live. -
Violence between whites and blacks intensifies and marital law. Effect:
We lost people that could have made Australia better -
The first Governor with any real claims to nation builder status, who will die in obscurity and mild disgrace back in British, but who will be known to future gene rations with the same phrase that is etched on his grave stone, `The Father of Australia’. Effect:
If there is no one to take his place Australia will fail. -
Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt was born in 1813 23 October at trebatsch in Brandenburg in Germany.

William Wentworth found a newspaper, which campaigns for ex-convicts and new arrivals. For the first time a generation of (white) native born make a canlamint for their rights to the land on which we live. Effect:
If this did not happen we wouldn’t be here today. -
The governor has drawn lines on the maps to show where the colonies are and the limited area of settlement but the settlers go ahead for new pastures to squat down upon. Effect:
With out this there would be no Brisbane, Perth or anything -
Leichhardt was educated at Trebatsch, a boarding school at Zaue, a gymnasium at Cottbus, and at the Universities of Berlin 1831 1834-36 and Gottingen 1833.

Australia – wide the market in wool – is a major export industry. London banks start to withdraw credit. Thousands are bankrupted and there is hardly anyone with a job. Effect:

In 1842 Leichhardt arrives in Sydney.

A Frenchman seeking gold in Victoria in the early 1850s declares gold which was the main attraction for that centre also known as the goal of all hopes, the dream land where the sun rises, it’s the goldforever: forever pure gold, virgin gold, gold hidden in the middle of the earth and lots more. This drove people to quit their jobs and go looking for gold. Effect:
If this didn’t happen gold would not excite today. -
In Melbourne at 1860-61 the burke and wills expedition starts in triumph, with 18 men, 27 camels and 27 tonnes of equipment. It ends about a year later in tragic farce. Only john king lived to return.

It is great that people sarcufist their lives for us. -
Small farmers are experiencing problems on their land but the cities just keep growing bigger as the Australian colonies rapidly become one of the most urbanised places in the world.
Effect:
If this didn’t happen there would be no city only farms. -
In 1882 Australia won a cricket match against England on their land for the first time and the English decided cricket was a crime for all English, the Australians where happy because they had beaten the Mother country.
Effect:
Cricket is a very important sport in Australia because of this. -
In 1900 WA holds a federation at the last second, after they have already started in London, and only after just being threatened by the British. They vote yes, as long as they receive a federally funded railway line linking WA with the rest of Australia.
Effect:
If this didn’t happen then WA wouldn’t be part of Australia and we wouldn’t have any WA stuff.
