First E-cigarette patent
First E-cigarette patent was Made by Herbert A. Gilbert. It worked just like todays E-cigarettes with a battery and a coil. Except no manufactures would produce his idea because of the love of normal cigarettes. His patent eventually expired. -

Tried for a patent for a new e-cigarette that actually vaporize the nicotine and wasn't just warm air. Had about the same nicotine percentage as a normal cigarette except without the tar and carbon monoxide in cigarettes. -

Gaining popularity
Around earlier 2000's people were realizing the side effects of smoking cigarettes and more people starting using E-cigarettes. This obviously was still a small amount of people. There was not yet a patent for a e-cigarette. -
First patented vape that goes on market
First successful E-cigarette that was created in Beijing. Created by Hon Lik, a 52 year old smoker who's dad died of lung cancer. The company he worked for as Golden Dragons and came up with the name Ruyan that means like smoke. -
Introduced to US
E-cigarettes are introduced and transported over seas to the US. Also got introduced to Europe. -
E-cigarettes and drugs
FDA is prohibited from banning e-cigarettes as a drug or drug combination device. E-cigarettes can in fact be used to smoke marijuana but the FDA can no longer suspend all e-cigarettes for it. -
E-cigarettes today
E-cigarettes today have grown into such a big thing used by many adults and even many teens. They have changed a lot over the years now with different modifiers on every vape such as a flashlight. A big variety of different flavors definitely pulls people in and keeps them trying different flavors and has become how big it is today because of it.
