Dzungar Genocide

    Fought between the Dzungar Khanate and an alliance of the Qing Dynasty and the northern Kalkhas, a remnant of the Northern Yuan Dynasty.

    2nd Dzungar-Qing War

    Due to the Dzungar's invasion of Tibet to kill a pretender to the Tibetan throne, and also kill a Qing expeditionary force. This war ended with the expulsion of the Dzungars from Tibet.

    Third Dzungar-Qing War

    The Yongzheng Emperor sent an expeditionary force o 230,000 to quell a Dzungar uprising, and later another force of 10,000. This war would be concluded with the signing of a treaty establishing the border of the Dzungar Khanate before the final war, and thus genocide.

    Final Qing Conquest of the Dzungars

    A feud over leadership of the Dzungar Khanate between Khan Dawachi and Prince Amursana. Amursana was unsuccessful, and thus went to the Qing Emperor Qianlong to ask for help. Qianlong pledged his support to Amursana, and sent in an amry to defeat Dawachi. Amrusana was then given leadership of one of the four tribes that the Khanate was to be divided, which upset Amursana, causing him to rise in rebellion against the Qing. This rebellion would lead to the Dzungar genocide.

    Dzungar Genocide

    After Amursana rebelled, the Qianlong Emperor decided that the Dzungars have to be exterminated once and for all, and ordered his generals to slaughter any Dzungars they came across. Amrusana was defeated three times in battle, first at the Oroi-Jalatu, then at Khorgos, and finally at Khurungui, where Amursna was killed.
