    Canada was almost forced into war because of their mothering country Britain, who we had foreign affairs with, was at war against the Germans and Hungarians. This resulted in many people wanting to go fight for their country and join the military.

    The 4-day long battle finally ended, leaving 3,598 Canadians dead, but this was considered a huge victory because the Canadians took out many Germans and claimed the land of Vimy Ridge. This was the start of the end for the war. This was an event of progress(+1).

    The popular Canadian artists group called The Group Of Seven was formed in 1920. This group of seven men made very bright and joyful pieces of Canadian artwork and poetry. Their work was unique and unlike anything people had seen before, and that's what had made them so well known. After the war, people needed some brightness in their lives, and the artwork of these artists may have helped. This was a progress(+1)

    Canada joined the League Of Nations, now known as the United Nations. This was a big deal because Canada was joining the group of countries trying to prevent wars, and after experiencing such a tragedy, Canada did the right thing. This is progress for the country(+2)

    One of our most used and well known products of today was the radio. The first radio that had things aired on it was made in 1920, and the first station was called KDKA in Pittsburgh. This was a very important time in the history of the world, because the radio is such a huge parts of our lives, and I can't imagine not having it around. This was a definite progress(+2)

    On this day, Canadian history was changed. 31 year old Agnes Macphail was elected into parliament, making her the first women to have a seat in the House Of Commons. This changed the views of women all over Canada, showing them that they could and should do everything that a man can do. This was a very exciting time for women, as women's rights were on the rise. this was definitely a progressive event(+2)

    This was a life changing discovery. Literally. The discovery of insulin by our very own London native Sir Frederick Banting changed the lives of people with diabetes. This discovery meant the difference between life, or death and that was so incredible ! After Banting tested his discovery on a young diabetic boy, and it worked, the course of diabetes was forever changed! This was such an amazing accomplishment by a fellow Canadian. This was surely a progress(+2).

    Chinese Immigration Act Went Into Effect(POLITICAL)
    This was a very sad day for all Chinese-Canadians. this new law banned all Chinese immigrants from entering Canada, and unfortunately this law lasted 24 years! This was very unfair to the Chinese, and the government thought that this was a good thing for Canada. It is hard to imagine this happening, after seeing in 2018, how much the Chinese have contributed to our country and still contribute today. This was definitely a decline(-1)
