One of the first recorded ariel strikes was in 1849 Austria launched over 200 hot air balloons carrying bombs which were sent to Venice. -
Kettering Bug
1915 Charles Kettering tested a pilotless biplane called the Kettering Bug that, by the standards of the day, was on the leading edge of military technology. Six feet wing span, five feet long and powered by a Ford engine, it was designed to take off from a track and fly toward enemy lines. At a certain time the wings would detach and the plane, which could carry a 250-pound explosives, would hit the ground and explode. The U.S. Army built about 50 Kettering Bugs. -
World War 1 Surveillance
In World War I, aerial surveillance was used a lot. The Royal Flying Corps took over 19,000 aerial photographs and collected 430,000 prints during the five months of the Battle of the Somme in 1916. -
Japenese Balloon Bombs

1995 the U.S Military’s UAV was launched at a cost of $40 million. Model is called MQ-1 Predator. The predator is used predominantly over Iraq and Afghanistan. -
Predator Drone in Afghanistan
4th feb 2002, CIA used the first unmanned predator drone in a targeted killing, in Paktia province in Afghanistan. The intended target was Osama Bin Laden but ended up killing civilians. -
