    The bulge is noticed to grow on the side of the mountain

    Bulge continues to grow while an observation structure is moved closer
  • Explosion

    8:32 am - earthquake causes massive explosion to happen
  • Explosion grows

    8:33 am - 2 more blast take off of Mt St Helen's
  • Later eruptions

    9:01 am - mountain erupts again causing more smoke and debre to flood the area
  • Air problems

    9:45- smoke direct shifts east
    10:10-12:10 - breathing problems are recorded and gas expands around mountain
  • Erupts again

    Volcano erupts again with smaller eruption causing minimal damage
  • Replanting

    The first trees are planted in the blast zone as many more were place in the following years
  • Monument

    Mt. St Helen's national volcanic monument is established
