College Graduation
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in May 1999. -
First Job: Corpus Christi School
My first teaching job was teaching fourth grade self-contained at an inner-city Catholic school in Dayton, Ohio. I eventually taught fourth, fifth and sixth grades in different capacities over the next five years. From 1999-2002, I was also in a teacher service program called Lalanne. -
M.S. Graduation
I earned my Master of Science in Reading Education in August 2002. -
Adopted Calvin
Calvin is the second dog I adopted as an adult from the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. He is a shepherd mix, and will be 12 years old this month. He has cataracts and doesn't hear very well anymore, but he still knows when it's time to eat and how to sniff out the trash can! -
Second Job: Holy Angels School
My second job was teaching second grade self-contained for the next four years (2004-2008). -
Spud found Us
I did not intend to adopt Spud. He found us. He was found wandering on the street outside my apartment complex in Cincinnati. I was 'fostering' him. I, obviously failed! He is about six years and will be seven in March. He is a bassett hound/pit bull mix, and he is the friendliest dog you will ever meet...unless you are a cat! -
First Assistant Professor Job
My first teaching position as a university professor was at Georgia Southwestern State University in Americus, GA. -
Doctorate degree earned!
I earned my EdD in Literacy and Second Language Studies in December 2012 -
Shawnee State
I came to Shawnee State University in August to be closer to my family and friends in Dayton. -
Adopted Freddie
Calvin passed away unexpectedly in October 2017. Spud and I were doing okay, but I felt like something was missing. We adopted Freddie on May 15, 2018. He is a boxer/lab mix. Although he seems to enjoy jumping the fence once in a while, he seems to know where 'home' is.
