Virginia's James River
100 men and the captain, Captain Smith landed and boarded on the banks of Virginia's James River to explore. -
Illness
Captain Smith returned to England when he became ill and around this time Pocahontas stopped coming to the settlement in Jamestown. The relationship between the settlers and the Pohatan nation became weak. -

Captain John Smith had died. When Pocahontas heard, she went back to visit Jamestown and was imprisoned by the settlers because her father had some of their men and weapons. -

In Jamestown, the first assembly was established, called the House of Burgesses. -

Governor William Bradford held a celebration feast with the Wampanog tribe that lasted for three days. This tradition still exists but we now call it Thanksgiving. -

King Charles II decided to give William Penn land in the New World that was southwest of New Jersey. William named the land Penn for his last name and sylvania that means "woods". So that was how Pennsylvania got its name.
