    George Floyd, a 46-year-old African-American man, died in Minneapolis on Monday after being handcuffed and pinned to the ground by Derek Chauvin, a white police officer. Bystanders captured video of the officer behind a police car using his knee to pin Mr. Floyd by his neck. The video was posted on social media and went viral, which led to riots nationwide that were organized and put together through Black Lives Matter. Instagram was the primary form of social media used. #blacklivesmatter
  • Storming of Capital Hill

    Storming of Capital Hill
    After President Trumps defeat in the 2020 presidential election, after around 1 p.m. a large group of people that were supporters of President Trump stormed and attacked the Capital Building. Social media sites Twitter, and Facebook were used to organize the group and send out directions on which streets to take to avoid police and what bring to help pry open doors were posted in the comments.

    "My body my choice" protests broke out in Washington D.C. after Texas adopted a law that banned almost all abortions. Rallies and protests were organized and put together through social media accounts like Facebook and Instagram.

    The Black Menaces is a group of Black students who started a popular TikTok account where they ask their peers questions about race and identity. Now they’re encouraging others to do the same at campuses across the country. They started "Strike Out Homophobia" a hashtag and movement march.
