49ers Quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, decided to begin a silent protest by kneeling during the national anthem before each football game. The act didn't cause much attention until the reason was for it was brought forth and other players began to join. Kaepernick said he was protesting police brutality and racism. -

Political violence broke out causing this social media protest. It started when Borko Stefanovic of the Serbian Left party was extremely beaten. Enraged posts were found all over social media causing more violence and disruption. -

In order to make known the accusations of misconduct against Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein and sexual abuse itself. The hashtag #metoo was popularized as actor Alyssa Milano encouraged people to share their stories known and make this topic familiar to all. -
China's Firewall Protest
China's censorship law was protested by the citizens. Posts about the topic were removed or deleted, but no matter how hard the censors tried, the word was spread.
