    Donald Trump wins the presidential election against Hillary Clinton November, 2016. People posted videos of young adults crying over Trump's win on Instagram to show how much they hated him and how they thought the country was going to die. While many others shared videos of themselves celebrating on social media. The disruption lasted a couple days after the election.

    Following the exposure of the widespread sexual-abuse allegations against Harvey Weinstein in early October 2017, the movement began to spread virally as a hashtag on social media. The phrase "Me too" was tweeted by Milano around noon on October 15, 2017, and had been used more than 200,000 times by the end of the day. On Facebook, the hashtag was used by more than 4.7 million people in 12 million posts during the first 24 hours.

    George Floyd (Black Lives Matter)
    On May 25, 2020, George Floyd, a 46-year-old black American man, was killed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during an arrest for allegedly using a counterfeit bill. A video of police officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on George Floyd's neck for 8 minutes circulated on every social media platform. As a result, the social media campaign "Black Out Tuesday" was created to protest racism and police brutality. It was mostly used on Instagram and lasted for one day on June 2, 2020.

    With the start of the world-wide corona virus pandemic. People posted on every form of social media to remind Americans of social distancing, wearing masks, staying home, testing, symptoms etc. The hashtag #stayhome and #flattenthecurve was used mostly on Twitter and Instagram, and Instagram even had a “stay home” sticker to add to your stories.
