    5 Iranian girls were arrested by authorities for performing a dance to Selena Gomez's "Calm Down" without headscarves and were detained for 48 hours before being forced to publicly apologize. People took to TikTok in protest by recreating the dance and using the hashtags #dance4iran #freeiran and others
  • Justice pour Nahel

    Justice pour Nahel
    A 17 year old boy, Nahel, was killed by French authorities during a routine traffic stop. Police claimed the boy posed a threat, but footage of the incident posted on SM contradicted this claim. Snapchat was largely blamed by President Macron for the riots, but other SM platforms played a role in raising awareness of the issue.
