Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation basically said that all lands west of the heads of all rivers which flowed into the Atlantic Ocean from the west or northwest were off-limits to the colonists. -
The Declaratory Act
Basically a statement from the Parliament that stated that every tax that they pass is fair, though they do not talk among the colonies. -
The Sugar Act
The Parliament issued increased taxes on produces like sugar and molasses. This marked the first time the Parliament used taxes to profit off the colonies -
The Currency Act
The Parliament abolished the colonial currency in favor of their own. This was an act to protect, the British merchants from deprecated currency problems. -
The Stamp Act
An act passed by the Parliament onto the colonies which required the colonies to pay higher taxes for documents, cards, and various papers, which had to have a stamp. -
The Quartering Act of 1765
This act towards the colonists forced any colonist to house British soldiers when requested no matter what. -
The Townshend Act
The Parliament rising colonials taxes on glass, paper, lead, paint, and tea -
The Boston Massacre
A deadly riot that included colonial mobs against British soldier. The multiple people from the mob were shot and killed as a result. -
The Boston Tea Party
A protest where around 60 colonists dumped hundreds of gallons worth of tea out into the ocean. -
The Intolerable Acts
Four laws that were basically punishments against the colonists in response to the Boston Tea Party -
Quartering Act of 1774
The last act passed was the Quartering Act of 1774 which applied not just to Massachusetts, but to all the American colonies, and was only slightly different than the 1765 act. This new act allowed royal governors, rather than colonial legislatures, to find homes and buildings to quarter or house British soldiers. -
The Quebec Act
An act that allowed French Catholics to get government jobs.
