    The Liberation of Paris was when the French Resistance, who were supported by the Allies, fought to free the city from Nazi occupation. It started on August 19, 1944 and ended on August 25, 1944. After days of fighting and heavy bombing, the German forces surrendered in Paris on August 25. This was a turning point in the war, especially in France.

    The Battle of Leyte Gulf took place from October 23 to October 26, in 1944. It was the largest naval battle of WWII and it was fought between the US and Japan near the Philippines. The Japanese tried to keep the Philippines, but they suffered huge losses.

    The Battle of Iwo Jima took place from February 19 to March 26, 1945. The US Marines fought to capture the island because it would provide a base for airstrikes. Despite the Japanese resistance, the US won the island.

    Hitler killed himself and his wife in a bunker on April 30, 1945. They both committed suicide to avoid being captured. Their bodies were later burned, and Germany surrendered.

    The Battle of Okinawa took place from April 1st to June 22nd, 1945. It was one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific during WWII. The US and the Allies fought to gain control of the island, and it was crucial to get it so they could launch an invasion of Japan. The Allies won and gained a base that was close to Japan.

    The Potsdam Conference took place from July 17th to August 2nd, 1945. It was a meeting between the leaders of the US, the UK, and the Soviet Union. They agreed on the terms for Japan's surrender and outlined plans for Germany's reconstruction.

    The Bombing of Hiroshima took place on August 6th, 1945, when the US dropped an atomic bomb on Hiroshima and it killed about 70,000 people right then, with others dying from radiation sickness and injuries later. This set the stage for Japan's surrender, and the ending of WWII.

    The Bombing on Nagasaki took place on August 9th, 1945, three days after the Bombing of Hiroshima, when the US dropped a second, less cool, bomb, on Japan. This one killed about 40,000 people instantly and more died later from radiation and stuff.

    The surrender took place on August 15, 1945, after both bombings. Emperor Hirohito announced the surrender in a radio address. This marked the end of WWII. The official signing of the surrender took place on September 2nd, 1945.
